Im Zeitlupentempo wurde die neue Eisenbahnbrücke von ihrem Lagerplatz am Rande der Dörnerhofstraße in Duisburg-Duissern über den Ruhrschifffahrtskanal geschoben. Ein Ponton auf dem Wasser diente als zusätzliche Stütze für die knapp 1600 Tonnen schwere Last.

Duisburg.  Wochenlang wurde der Stahlkoloss aus Einzelteilen zusammengesetzt: Seit Donnerstag wird die neue Eisenbahnbrücke in Duisburg exakt eingesetzt.

Nun hängt alles vom Feingefühl in den Fingern von Mathijs Verheijen ab. Mit seinen Daumenkuppen bedient der Transportarbeiter (26), der bei einem Spezialunternehmen im niederländischen Breda beschäftigt ist, die beiden Hebel seiner voluminösen Fernbedienung. Damit steuert er die Modulfahrzeuge, die den 1600 Tonnen schweren Stahlkoloss in Zeitlupentempo auf den Ruhrschifffahrtskanal zubewegen.
